Paul, thanks for bringing this to our attention. The warranty was 5 years at the time of writing, but the company changed their policy. We updated our reviews to reflect the current warranty. Even with the reduction, this is better than most manufacturers. And just FYI, the EBC website recommends that all customers send their battery in for service at the 2 year mark to take advantage of the warranty. We hope you enjoy your bikes!

Hi,
You are stating that the battery is covered for 5 years. On the EBC site is lists at 2 years. That’s quite deceiving. I actually ordered 2 bikes based upon this review only because of the battery warranty so please fix your description or verify somehow that there is a 5 year warranty. Thanks

You can switch them out when ordering, to steel low profile fenders, no cost. Caught that when ordering mine. They call the plastic ones sport fender. Don’t belong on a cruiser style bike.

Great review…I’m looking at the Model “R”. I’m unsure whether to add the 7 speed derailer. We live at Lake Powell so it’s somewhat hilly and very sandy trails…will the 7 speed decrease battery drain? If so, what size battery should I get if I went with just the direct drive vs 7 speed?

Just picked mine up today, and cruised Huntington Beach. Rides really nice, and feels solid and substantial. Almost motorcycle-like.
I feel for anyone that has to hassle with shipping things for repair.
Luckily, they are right across the street from me…

Thinking of getting this bike tricked out at $3100, but bummed to find they don’t cover shipping on warranty repairs and they designate that all work on their bikes must be done at their shop in CA. So though the rear proprietary hub motor has 10 year warranty (with lots of small print natch) you have to disassemble and ship to EBC. Welcome comments from others. Aside from this issue, and having to purchase the bike sight unseen because of such limited distribution, the bike seems awesome.
