The display warns of overheating and shuts down the motor, which then needs to cool off for a few minutes. This Never happened with my Radrover regardless of hill length or steepness or power level. As another comment mentioned, power level 1 is very strong-the equivalent of level 3 on the Rad-so to get exercise with such a high power output we Have to climb hills. Perhaps the 750 motor on the Rad prevented overheating, but this is an issue Adventon should address. Also, the battery will drain faster in the final 50% than in the first 50%, so be aware. Still, the torque sensor allows for a longer range regardless of terrain-a minimum of 35 miles, and feels similar to a cadence sensor to me. I would like to see a larger tail light with a flash feature integrated into the battery. This seems common sense for a bike sold as a commuter. Again, none of these things are deal breakers, just things that would make a good, affordable bike top notch.

Loved the bike performance. Used I every couple of days for 3 years. Good dependable bike. At the end of three years and 1000 miles the battery completely died, I needed a replacement. They don’t make them! After 3 years their stance is that it is a disposable bike. They gave me the contact of a third party provider for batteries. No product follow up after purchase. I’m hoping to get another battery from this company but if not I will need to buy another e bike and it won’t be an Aventon.

I like to get exercise on the way home from work which would be impossible with this bike. The test results above bear this out. Hope they correct this issue on the next version.

I appreciate the comments in “real world” format that helps me think about how the bike will perform as I’d ride it. And at 6’0” and 230 lbs. myself it’s good to see this bike would work well for me. Thanks!

I liked the feel of this one better than some much-pricier, mid-drive bikes! As an avid cyclist, a torque sensor was a must for me, but I also love the ton of little extras on this bike: the chain stay and fender lights, with brake lights; the beefy rack with extra pannier bar (so it’s easy to have both a trunk bag and panniers on at the same time); the fact that the display has USB for your phone; the reflective sidewalls. All these strike me as places where Aventon could’ve cut corners, but went the extra mile, instead. There were a couple of other torque-sensor bikes in this prices range (but only a couple!), but both were mail-order only, and a test ride is so important for any bike, but even more so for an ebike, since there are more things to…feel. I like that I was able to test ride, and then get this from a local bike shop, so that there will be more back-up if anything goes wrong. So far, though, about a week in–everything’s going right, and I love this bike!
