Have you seen the Pedego shops in your city and are wondering what they’re all about as a company? Our Pedego electric bike reviews page should help.
Pedego sells throttle-enabled high power electric bikes in a variety of styles, through its network of over 200 brick and mortar dealers in the US. Originally focused on satisfying the e-bike needs of Baby Boomers, Pedego has diversified its product line to appeal to younger riders as well. One of the company’s distinguishing features is the 5-year warranty they offer on their e-bikes, especially their proprietary motors, which are considered to be some of the best around.
Pedego’s broad repertoire of electric bikes includes the Boomerang and Trike e-bikes, specifically for seniors and persons with disabilities, the Avenue and Commuter for commuters, adventure bikes like the new Elevate and highly popular Element, as well as cruisers, tandems, and cargo bikes. Most are Class 2 e-bikes with motors that can take you up to 20 mph, either using the throttle or the pedal assist system (PAS).
Pedego® was founded in 2008, by former automotive industry executive Don DiCostanzo. The story of Pedego is one of organic growth. Finding fun through riding is a central theme at Pedego. DiCostanzo, a serial entrepreneur, got the idea of selling e-bikes when he saw the benefit it provided in helping him ride to the top of a steep hill he lived on. In 2006 he opened his Newport Beach, CA, electric bike shop and quickly discovered the consumer demand for electric bikes of higher quality and greater variety. His goal in starting Pedego was to offer high quality electric bikes at an affordable price.
Soon he discovered customers who lived too far away from his shop needed a local shop to provide service specifically tailored for the Pedego e-bikes. That’s when he began franchising across the US, making Pedego one of the largest e-bike dealers in the country.
